Fragrance is a powerful tool that can take us to different destinations at any given time. Now, more than ever, we can make use of different notes to give us that sense of adventure we’ve been missing out on for the past year.
INTO THE WOODS
Orto Parisi’s Bergamask is a unisex scent that was launched back in 2014, and is far from your typical fragrance. It has contrasting notes of fresh citrus and “dirty” animal musks. The scent was created with the idea of communicating a feeling of attraction and repulsion through the combination of two very different sets of notes. Although it begins as a fresh experience, the second stage of this fragrant play can be described as aggressively extensive and extremely long-lasting.
WORK OF ART
Nasomatto is famous not just for its unusual choice for notes but is also held in high regard for its beautiful bottles that are exceptional masterpieces (that handmade wooden cap is a conversation piece all on its own). The brain behind Nasomatto is Italian Alessandro Gualtieri, who calls himself "The Nose". Nasomatto has created scents that are vivid and that give us a new sensation. He says, “Every inhalation of this perfumes will give you a sense that you don´t have control over your thoughts. You no longer have to be a slave to your mind. Simply let the perfume speak.”
IN FULL BLOOM
Roja’s Scandal Femme Parfum is just as its name implies—this ultra feminine floral fragrance with fresh, sweet, warm and very sensual notes. It opens with a head-turning trilogy of creamy white florals. Its heart notes are Tuberose, Gardenia and Jasmine, and at the base of this intriguing scent are warm whispers of Sandalwood, Orris and Musk which create a soft and sensual undertone that’s impossible to miss.
Xerjoff’s Zefiro EDP, P12,000 is a tribute to Rome, its dignity and classicism. The scent is riddled with intoxicating notes that are both spicy and smoky at the same time. This isn’t a fragrance for the faint of heart. Its wearer must understand that this scent is one that evokes grandeur from its top to bottom notes.
Parfums De Marly’s Exroyal EDP, P13,800. At first, this scent envelopes you in light, luscious lychee-like notes but as it progresses, you begin to appreciate deeper notes of Turkish rose then end with a lovely mix of vanilla, white musk, cashmeran, woods, and incense. The components, when put together, leave you with a soft, pure and wonderfully youthful finish.
ROSES IN BLOOM
If you’re a fan of florals, then this is the one for you. Viktor & Rolf’s Flowerbomb Dew, P6,250 is a “floriental” musky perfume that’s ultra-feminine. Its notes are primarily floral, designed around a Dewy Rose Accord. The best part? It’s hardly like that in-your-face heavy floral your grandmother used to wear. This modern adaptation is light and airy so much so that it can be used for both night and day.
